In a groundbreaking initiative, public participation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program in Vadodara saw overwhelming enthusiasm, with registration opening on BookMyShow. All available seats were filled within an hour, resulting in over 42,000 individuals placed on a waiting list.
The program is set for Tuesday when Modi will visit Gujarat to inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹35,000 crore. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) employed a tech-enabled registration system, utilizing a platform familiar to many, ensuring a streamlined entry process for attendees.
Registered participants will obtain a digital M-Ticket through their BookMyShow accounts, featuring a secure live QR code for entry verification. This fully digital process aims to facilitate quick access and smooth crowd management.
During his visit, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones and inaugurate significant sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), developed at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore. This includes key segments like New Sanand to New Makarpura, and New Umbergaon to New Saphale, enhancing logistics efficiency.
The new dedicated freight network, crucial for enhancing transportation infrastructure, will integrate trailer connectivity with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). This initiative promises to significantly boost the speed at which cargo moves, alleviate congestion in Mumbai’s railway system, and reduce overall logistics costs.
With these developments, the Dedicated Freight Corridor network will become fully operational, substantially benefiting the country’s logistics ecosystem by improving connectivity and reducing transit times across various regions.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to launch freight train services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, and New JNPT. Additionally, he will flag off a new passenger train service linking Tanda Road and Vadodara, enhancing intercity transport.
Another key project includes the new Jobat–Tanda Road rail line, part of the Chhota Udepur–Dhar initiative, which aims to connect remote tribal villages of Alirajpur to the national rail system.
In a move focused on improving passenger and freight transport efficiency, Modi will lay the foundation for three vital railway projects spanning 329 kilometers and costing approximately ₹9,700 crore. These efforts will ease congestion on existing lines and bolster connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will initiate three National Highway projects valued at around ₹1,780 crore. These projects will enhance essential road infrastructure, including significant upgrades on NH-48 and NH-53 in and around Vadodara.
In particular, the construction of bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers and new grade-separated structures at various junctions will aim to improve the flow of traffic, especially during peak hours.
Other notable projects include the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, both pivotal for sustainable urban development. Modi will also unveil housing initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) mobile supply efforts for 11 villages in Vadodara.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will attend the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai, a premier annual fintech conference. Running from 8th to 11th September, GFF 2026 aims to forge a dialogue between global fintech leaders on shaping the future of finance.
The festival theme, “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” focuses on implementing technologies for measurable benefits across economies. Notably, GFF seeks to expand India’s dominance in digital payments while promoting financial inclusion.
The Prime Minister’s engagements in Vadodara and Mumbai highlight the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and promoting inclusive development through innovative means. This initiative not only bolsters public participation in important programs but also reflects a modern approach to governance.
