Cloudburst Hits Chatroo in Kishtwar, Causes Damage

A cloudburst struck the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Saturday, damaging several houses and structures. The incident happened around 2:30 a.m., triggered by heavy rainfall, officials reported.

Authorities confirmed that while multiple residential buildings suffered damage, there were no fatalities or injuries reported. The rapid surge of water and debris resulted in significant challenges for the local community.

Following the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chatroo, accompanied by police and civil administration teams, rushed to the affected area. They initiated a comprehensive damage assessment and began relief measures to support the impacted residents.

Officials continue to advise residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to remain vigilant. They urge community members to avoid streams, nallahs, and unstable slopes until weather conditions improve.
